WELL, winter has finally arrived, so to speak

First time hitting the trails this year for John and I was January 3, 2010 which was just a short one. We headed out from Barrie and got to Hilldsale.

We managed to run 40kms just to get the feel for the trails this year, not that they have changed much but it's all dependant on the snow.

The only downfall for the day was that John blew a belt, but at least someone stopped to help him get the spare on.

Ok, just need to remember how to post my pics after my wording. Will work on this tomorrow, I'm still exhausted from this past weekends ride.

WOW, cannot believe it has been almost 1 year since I have blogged.

PSP just has not held any interest for me, so it's time to move onto other things.

Will be updating the blog with our snowmobiling adventures for this winter and then not sure what I will do for the summer, LOL

For this tut you will need working knowledge of PSP, I have used 9.

Supplies:

Tube of Choice: I am using the wonderful work of Keith Garvey.

To use his work you need a license.

You can get one HERE.

Scrap Kit of Choice: I am using the gorgeous FTU Scrap Kit called Candy_Bunnie

You can get HERE.

Drop shadow I have used throughout this tut is 3, 3,50,2.00

Mask used is WSL 83 which you can get here

Let’s start!!!!

Open a new Raster Layer 700x700 transparent.

Open a paper of your choice, copy and paste on your canvas.

Add your mask layer, and on your layer palette delete your mask layer, and merge group.

Open a frame of your choice from the kit, resize and place to your liking.

Add drop shadow.

Open a bunny tube from the kit, resize and place to your liking.

Add a drop shadow.

With your magic wand click inside your frame, paste your main tube, invert and delete.

Re paste your main tube again erasing any overhang.

Add your drop shadow.

Add a butterfly of your choice, resize and place to your liking, add a drop shadow.

Add a candy of your choice, resize and place to your liking, adding a drop shadow.

Add any other elements you wish with a drop shadow until you are satisfied.

Resize, add any wording and your copyright info.

SAVE.

Any resemblance to another tut is purely coincidental.

Well here it is April 1st, and I finally have gotten around to writing a tutorial.

Hope you enjoy.

For this tut you will need working knowledge of PSP, I have used 9.

Supplies:

To use his work you need a license.

Scrap Kit of Choice: I am using the gorgeous FTU Scrap Kit called Happy Easter by angelflightscraps.

Drop shadow I have used throughout this tut is 3, 3,50,2.00

I’m not sure where I got this mask, so if anyone knows of the origin please let me know and I shall give credit where credit is due.

Let’s start!!!!

Open a new Raster Layer 700x700 white.

Open frame of your choice, resize to your liking, copy and paste on your canvas.

With your Magic Wand click inside your frame, open a paper of your choice, paste as a new layer, invert and delete, move below your frame layer.

With your magic wand click inside your first paper layer on your frame, selections, modify, expand by 2 and add your tube of choice, placing into position inverting and delete to remove the unwanted parts.

Repeat the above step for your second square.

Merge visible your 2 frames with papers and tube, separately.

Add a drop shadow to both your frames.

Free rotate your two frames 15%, right and left.

Resize, copy and paste a bow of your choice to join the 2 frames, and add a drop shadow.

Add your main tube and place to your liking.

Add a drop shadow.

Add floodfill your background with a colour of your choice.

Add a mask of your choice, remembering to invert transparency.

Add any additional elements that you wish to use adding a drop shadow as you go along.

Resize, add any wording and your copyright info.

SAVE.

Any resemblance to another tut is purely coincidental.

Spring Time Fairies

This tutorial assumes you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Artwork Copyright to Butterfly Web Graphics, which you can get here.

I used the Scrap Kit, Happiness, a ftu kit by Jael of Jaelop Designs, Ssroll down until you find it.

You can download the kit here.

Template #4 used is from witchysheart which you can find here.

Font of your choice.

Drop shadow I used vertical & horiztonal 3, opacity 50, blur 2.

Open a new image 650 x 650 and floodfill with white.

Copy and paste the template closing off the copyright layer.

With each layer using your magic wand copy and paste a paper of your choice, then invert and delete, add your drop shadow.

Copy and paste any elements of your choice adding a drop shadow as you go along.

Delete each original layer as you go along to make things easier.

With the tubes of your choice go back and highlight your rectangle rasters and copy and paste your tubes as new layers, resizing, inverting and deleting the unwanted areas.

Add the copyright and your watermark.

Layers, merge, merge visible.

Save and your done.

Easter

Supplies needed:PSP (I used PSP 9)

Tube or image. I used the art of Butterfly Web Graphics which can be found

Scrap Kit- I used Happy Easter by http://designerscraps.com/

Open a new canvas 700x700 and flood fill with white.

Open up a frame you would like to use and resize if necessary and paste as a new layer.

With your magic wand, selections, modify expand by 8 and paste your paper of choice, invert and delete to remove excess paper.

Drop your paper below your frame layer.

Selections/select none.

Open your tube, place inside your frame layer, resize and select your eraser tool and erase anything that hangs over.

Add a drop shadow to all layers.
Open up a flower element and paste as a new layer, resize and place it where you like it.

Do the same thing with butterfly element.

Drop shadow on both.

Merge visable, resize.

Add your wording and your copyright information.

Just discovered that I have been challenged by my friend Deb.

These are the challenge instructions:

Go to your photo folder in your computer.

Go to the 6th folder of the photos.

Go to the sixth picture.

Put the picture on your blog and description of it.

Invite six friends to join the challenge.

Link them in your blog and let them know they have been challenged.

So I will do this challenge, but seriously I have no one to pass it on to as the only ones I can pass it onto have already done this, LOL

My mother is gonna kill me for this one, but then again she does not read my blog.

This pic was taken in 2008 at Wasaga Beach. It had been approx 50 odd years since the last time she was in the water at Wasaga, LOL

Well, here is another tut, just a short simple one, trying to get my feet again after taking a break.

Scrap kit is ftu, Every Rose which you can find here

Mask I used is WSL_14 which you can get here http://www.weescotslass.co.uk/

Tube I used is from the wonderful artist Angie Monasterio which you can get at CILM

Open up a transparent document 700 x 700, you can resize later.

Copy and paste your paper of choice as a new layer and apply your mask. On your layer palette, delete your mask.

Copy and paste frame 2 as a new layer and add a drop shadow.

Using your magic wand click inside your frame layer and modify, expand by 10.

Copy another paper of your choice, invert and delete, now move your paper layer below your frame layer.

Add the tube of your choice.

Merge your layers visible, add your wording, I used Bickley Font, and your copyright information.

This tutorial was written for those who have a working knowledge of PSP and I have used version 9 but should be able to be done in other versions.

Open a transparent image 700 x 700, we will resize later.

Flood fill with white.

Open one of your papers from your kit and copy and paste as a new layer.

Apply your mask and merge group.

Duplicate your merged layer and on the first one adjust, blur, Gaussian blur, radius 20.

Copy and paste the frame of your choice, I used frame 4, move it up and add a drop shadow of your choice.

Copy and paste the tube of your choice to your liking, and add a drop shadow.

Copy and paste any elements you wish to use and place to your liking, adding a drop shadow to each one.

Resize to 400 x 400 all, and add your copyright and wording that you wish.

Let's start

Open up a new doc 600 x 600, you can resize later.

Flood fill your canvas with white, add a new layer and flood fill with a color of your choice, I used 8Offff

Apply your mask of choice, I used Vix Mask 40 which you can find here, delete your mask layer and merge group.

Apply your frame, then with your magic wand click the outside of each frame so that you have marching ants around it.

Modify, expand by 6 and flood fill with a color of your choice, I used 60717d, select none.

Place your scrap pieces where you would like and resize to your liking.

Using your magic wand on your frame layer, click inside one of your frames, modify, expand by 10, copy and paste your tube of choice, invert and delete excess.

Do this with the remaining 3 frames using tubes of your choice or just leave the way it is.

Add the wording of your choice and don’t forget your copyright and resize.

This tutorial was written on January 10, 2009, and is my own design, if it is similar in anyway to another tutorial this is totally coincidental.

Lets Start !!!!!!!
Open scrap kit on your desk top.
Open a new image 600 X 600 pixels. Flood fill with white
Click on scrap kit, copy and paste raster 2 as a new layer. Resize to 350 X 350 pixels.
Image, Rotate, Free Rotate, right by 15. Duplicate this layer, Image Mirror, merge down
Click on scrap kit, copy and paste Raster 6, paste as a new layer. Drag below your merged layer.
Click on scrap kit, copy Raster 5 (hearts) and paste as a new layer, and drag down below your other 2 layers
Copy and paste Raster 4 as a new layer. Resize to 300 X 300,
Add a drop shadow as follows to each layer 1, 1, 50, 10

Click on scrap kit, copy and paste Raster 18 lace, image rotate, free rotate, right by 90. Place under above layer and erase any overhang. Layer Duplicate, Image Flip. Drop shadow on these 2 layers as before
Click on scrap kit, copy and paste Raster 9, new layer. Move to the right side (see my tag for placement). Drop Shadow
Copy and paste buttons, 10 and 12 as new layers and position to your liking. Drop Shadow same as before.
Copy and paste Raster 15 ribbon, as a new layer. And position to your liking, I placed it in the left top corner.
Copy and paste raster 13 heart as a new layer and resize 58% twice. Place to your liking adding the same drop shadow.
Copy main tube, paste as a new layer. Drop Shadow as before
Select Raster 1 on your layer palette. Add a new layer. Flood fill with color #880a0a, add the mask of your choice.

Mask, delete, Layers, Merge group.
Add the wording of your choice with a drop shadow.
Resize if you wish. Add copyright information

Wowwww, almost a month since I last posted.

Life has been super busy since the holidays.

Not sure what I have been doing but psping and the puter just have not been part of it for me the past few weeks.

First and formost, Merry Christmas to everyone who stops by.

It has been a very busy last couple of weeks around the Barrie area.

Between work and the holidays I have not had any time to stop by and post anything not to mention do any tagging.

But the new year is upon us and hopefully I will have more time.

We did manage to get out on the sled last weekend for a few hours and took a few pics, not many though, both John and I are having sled problems, :(

Wow, here it is Sunday and I have not done any psping in almost a week.

Come to think of it, I have not done much of anything, besides work, LOL

Hubby is home right now, work is real slow, and it does not look like its gonna get any better in Ontario right now any time soon.

I really wish the media would stop yacking about it, then things would be able to get back to normal.

But they won't as sensatialisim sells.

No new tubes for me anytime soon, as the bills still need to get paid, so I will just work with what I have until things look better.

Another thing to tick me off, is all the snow we have and the trails are not even open, sheeeeshhhhh, I at least wan't to ride once just incase the sleds need to go on the for sale market.

Ok, enough complaining, lets see if I can get in the groove of psping.

We got a ton of snow last night and its still snowing but the trails are still not open, and I want to go sledding. Oh well, it will happen soon, I hope.

Wheewwwwwww, just did this one up for you but with only one slight problem, I have no ideas of how to put all the supplies in a zip for you.

Open a new image transparent background 700 x 700, we can resize later.

Open your fireplace tube and copy and paste as a new layer.

With your freehand selection draw out what you would consider a piece of carpet in front of the fireplace and flood fill with a color of your choice.

Add eye candy fur setting of your choice until you are happy with it. I used EC 3.1, fur, with the following settings 25, 20, 25, 70.

Place the carpet just behind your fireplace.

Copy and paste a tree tube of your choice on either side of your fireplace.

Copy and paste a piece of garland across the top of your fireplace mantel.

Copy and paste some presents of your choice and place under your tree.

Copy and paste stocking of your choice, duplicate and move to the other side of the mantel.

Place tubes of your choice, resize and place on the carpet as well.

Add any other elements as you wish as this tutorial is just a guideline and the possibilities are endless.

Back on your fireplace tube, with your freehand selection draw around your fire.

Duplicate 2 times and on each layer apply eyecandy fire using random for each one. Use the setting that you are happy with for this effect.

Add your wording of choice, and don’t forget your copyright.

To animate, X out your fire 2 and fire 3, copy merge and add as a new animation in AS.

Do this to your other fire layers closing out and opening each one as you go, and paste after current frame in AS.

View your animation and save as a gif.

The baby sleeping tube in this tutorial is from butterflywebgraphics.com and the rest of the supplies are from various collections I have collected over the years and for the life of me, do not know where they came from, if they are yours please let me know and I will either replace them or give credit where credit is due.

Tubes of your choice, mine are from Butterfly Web Graphics which you can get here

Sceenery background behind the window is a picture from my personal collection. You can use any sceenery picture that you like, just make sure its copyright friendly.

Open up window frame and using your magic wand click on your red areas and floodfill with with the green used on the other side of the window frame.

Grab a bow of your choice resize and place on the left window shutter, add a drop shadow of your choice, duplicate and mirror image.

Grab the bell of your choice, resize and place in the center of the window at the top.

Open fence, resize and place at the bottom of your frame like I have.

Open your snowmen tubes of choice, resize and place where you like, add a drop shadow as well.

Grab your wreaths, resize, and place on the left side of your shutter, add a drop shadow, duplicate, and mirror.

On your original frame layer, with your magic wand click the first opening and holding your shift key click the second opening till you have marching ants around both openings.

Selection, modify, expand by 25 and paste your sceenery picture. Invert and delete to erase the excess.

Now paste your tubes of choice behind your window frame but in front of your sceenery tube, resize to your liking and erase any excess.

Add your choice of wording, and your copyright info.

That is all for this one.

Tube I have used is from Joel Adams, cilm, ptu, and you can find them here

Open up template 1 and delete your copyright layer.

Highlight layer 1 and copy and paste a paper of your choice, invert and delete.

Delete your original layer of the rectangle.

Do this with all your layers until you are satisfied.

Add a drop shadow of your choice to all your layers.

Next I resized the pointsetta tube by 57% twice and then sharpened it twice, added a drop shadow and placed it in the left corner.

Next resize the santa tube and place on your red box as I did.

Add a drop shadow as well.

Now add your tube of choice, add a drop shadow.

I now deleted the background but the choice is up to you.

Add your name, saying, whatever you wish and please do not forget your copyright.

Canda Cane Fairy Tutorial

Template 12 from A Little of Everything, which you can get here

Scrap kit is from bonscrapatitdesigns called Walking in a Scrappy Wonderland and you can find it here

The mask I have used is Vix 258, which you can get here

The tube I used is Carri Travis from mpt which you can get here

Highlight your rectangle layer, grab your magic wand and copy and paste paper of your choice, invert and delete, now delete your original layer.

Do this with all the layers until you are satisfied.

I floodfilled the background layer with a red and applied Vix 258 mask, invert unchecked.

Place your tube and add a drop shadow to all your layers.

Don't forget to add your copyright.

Open template and delete copyright.

On the circle layer using your magic want click and paste a paper of your choice as a new layer or use mine #5, invert and delete. Delete original circle layer.

Next, do the same with the square layer using a paper of your choice and then the frame. I flood filled the frame with a solid color.

On the snowflake layer, with your magic want click on a snowflake and holding your shift key click on the remaining slowflakes. Copy and paste a paper of your choice, invert and delete.

Add a drop shadow to your snowflake layer and then instead of deleting your original layer, move it up and then merge the 2 layers down.

Delete your backgound layer unless you would like to use a mask of your choice.

Add your tube of choice and any elements you wish to use.

Merge visable and save.

Don't forget your copyright info.

Ok, here we go, my first official tutorial as Deb so put it, “Write the tut for that one girl and post it on your blog!” so here it is.

Scrap kit from here Clarey (BagzOfScrapz) Winter Sparkle kit.

Mask is from Vix Christmas mask # 5 here

This tutorial was written on December 3, 2008, and is my own design, if it is similar in anyway to another tutorial this is totally coincidental.

Open up a new doc 700 x 700, you can resize later

Open up Winter Sparkle frame 1 and copy as a new layer.
Add a drop shadow of your choice.

With magic wand click inside frame and copy and paste a paper of your choice, I used paper 4, invert, delete, move paper under frame layer, select none.

Make a new layer, and flood fill color of your choice, I used 404040

Layers, load mask from disk, vix Christmas mask 5, invert transparency checked.

In layer palete, delete mask, say yes.

Copy and paste frosty doodle 1 and position as per my tag.

Duplicate doodle and flip, then mirror second doodle.

Paste your tube, add a drop shadow, and add font and wording of your choice.

Don’t forget your copyright and resize.

Here is one I just finished after having a wonderful dinner of bbq steak, lobster, baked tater, and corn. Mom and Dad had garlic butter shrimp instead of the lobster.
Talk about being stuffed. I should have taken pics of the plates but did not think of it until they were done.

Kayla, one of our Sibes, loves shellfish and could not wait to get her chompers on the shells afterwards.

Bacardi, our other Sibe does not like shellfish so he had the leftover taters and steak for his snack, :)

Ok, we made it home to Barrie early this afternoon.

After unpacking everything mom told us that Home Depot called and our flooring that we ordered is in.

I just cannot live with the ugly disgusting carpet we have anymore, LOL

So naturally John just needs to go pick up the new flooring.

After dinner he starts to rip apart the dining room, so now everyhing is on the dining room table and in the living room.

So now my life of renovations begin, yahhhhhh me.

The only good thing is he is only able to do so much each night (thats what I told him) and once a section is done we put everything back in its place.

Mind you in the process I need to strip all the trim and stain and varathane it, yahhhhhh me again, LOL

So that is the results, as you can see we placed 40th overall and are coming home with 2 trophies, Yahoooooo to us.

With this under our belt, we cannot be happier, even though we did not get any calls in the 4 meat catagories.

After the awards and pack up we headed out to Ruby Tuesdays for some non bbq food and a few drinks.

Once back at the hotel John and I joined Brian, Craig and John from Big Sid's BBQ for a few drinks, and a few drinks it was,LOL

These are the boys who introduced me to Bacardi Raspberry rum back in 2007 and this time around it was Peach rum.

They are a very bad influence on me, let me tell you.

Now while having a few drinks in their room it was decided that it was time to shave Craigs head so shave it we did, and then it was time for them to initiate John into thier wacky little club, and John figured why fight em as they would have out manouvered him anyways. So John got shaved as well.

Very interesting to see my hubby without hair, LOL

When you touch his head today it feels like a cats tounge, LOL

I'm finally in the process of uploading pics to my webshots page and should have them done by tomorrow now that I have a decent internet connection.

Hello there.

Well here it is the big day, the final day and judging of The Jack.

Yesterday, where do I start, when we left the hotel it was raining and rained until aprox 3 pm in the afternoon.

BBQ comps and rain are not any fun, trust me. We were on somewhat low ground and talk about being in a lake.

Brian, Craig and John from Strobes, aka Big Sid's BBQ in Brantford arrived bright and early as they are very supportive of us and are here to help and support us this weekend.

These guys are one of a kind and are very special to us.

Around our site we had hale bails as part of site so the guys broke down a few of them to help sop up the water.

I really wish I could get some pics up but as I mentioned yesterday I'm still having problems with the server here at the hotel and I just have not had the time to call and have them put a boost on.

4:00 pm was the time for the Teams to parade around Lynchburg Square. That was an amazing as John and I were proudly carrying the Canadian Flags with Craig, John and Lexi holding the banner, Danielle, Vlado and Gary (our corporate sponsor from Traeger Canada) in between us.

I had another great guy Tboar from Simcoe Country Smokers taking pics for me until my batteries died, argggggg, then he was using Craigs camera which I will upload the pics from the my puter hopefuly tonight.

After the parade it was time for dinner on the hill, a small bus ride to the top on the hills here in Lynchburg.

The dinner was fine but the Lynchburg Lemonade was even better as they spike it with Jack.

The view on the hill is spectacular as well.

John and I got back to the hotel around 10 pm and its time to crash, we have Lexi with us as this will enable Danielle and Vlado to stay on site to do the overnight cook.

It's almost time for me to grab my shower then get John and Lexi up so we can head on back to our site.

Today is the turn in for all the catagories then the judging at 5 pm.

Pretty much of the day was doing prep work, getting dessert ready and trying to keep dry.

Good Morning all, here it is Friday and the official first day of the Jack.

We had a busy day yesterday with set up meeting some very impressive bbqers but I don't remember half of them yet, not surprising, LOL, and setting up our camp.

I'm having problems with the internet server here at the hotel and would really love to get more pics up but I keep getting booted when I try to upload them.

Today is gonna be just as busy as yesterday and we will not get back to the hotel until late tonight so I will have to try to upload pics then.

John and I broke down and went back to the Lynchburg Hardware and General Store yesterday and bought a Jack Barrel, lol, not full of course, those ones range from $9000.00 to $12000.00.
Maybe next year, LOL.

Well guess that is about all for now, need to finish getting ready to head out.

Well as you can see we have arrived in Lynchburg and so far its amazing.

The reality that we are here hit me last night when we all were having dinner.

In addition to The Jack blog, I will be posting lots of my psp as that is another addiction I have, but that will have to wait till I get home as everything is on my puter and not hubby's laptop, LOL

So one of the reasons for starting this blog is to show you all about our journey on the road to the Jack Daniels.

It all started back in the fall of 2006, hence why I should have started this blog long time ago, LOL

So Danielle aka Diva Q asked John and I about becoming team members with her and her hubby Vlado to compete in the professional world of bbqin.

The summer of 2007 was our first season competing professionally and since then we have done amazingly well.

Although we did not receive any GC's in 2007 we have in 2008 which enabled us to become The Ontario Series Championship for 2008 giving us an invite to The Jack Daniels 20th Invitational BBQ Championships in Lynchburg Tennessee, which is where we are now as I type.

I should have started a blog a long time ago as I know so many more have them but I always said I have no time.

Well here go, it's a start
